In 1994 the idea of starting a Natural Dyeing unit was germinated to cultivate the long forgotten art, while creating a non-toxic, eco-friendly and azo free environment. The art is synonymous with craft practices, which reflect a harmonious, sustainable, relationship with the eco systems and the local plant reservoir. It is the unique repository of community knowledge and skillful heritage.

It maintains the uniqueness of every region in the world in terms of techniques and specialized processes in the art of natural dyeing. This Unit imparts training in this ancient art and dyeing in cotton, silk, wool, jute, linen in yarn and yardage. Apart from dyeing, they also develop artistry in block printing, Shibori (Japanese style of Tie & Dye) & Batik ..
